Garage Sale Date

Oh how I love Summer!  For this date we did a few things that I absolutely love to do during the summer time.

I posted this on the front door so as we were leaving for our date he saw this.  You can also buy the real signs at the Dollar Tree.

In the car Jason received 2 lists.  One list consisting of all the local garage sale addresses.  I had previously looked up on Craigslist.com who was having garage sales the day we wanted to go.

The second listed all the items needed to be found. Once found, we would mark them off of our checklist. (Kind of like a scavenger hunt but we weren't going to buy the items.)  The person who found the most items would win and get a prize.

I'm sure you've heard the saying one person's trash is another person's treasure.  Jason and I both like going to garage sales to see what we can find.  We found more than half the items on our list.  I couldn't believe it when I found one of my favorite books, "The Five Love Languages" going for $1!   Seriously, this book is amazing and I apply it to my marriage all the time.

Since I already have this book I decided to get it anyways and give it away to a reader who might enjoy this USED book. The deal is, you must apply this book to your marriage and I better not see it at your garage sale in the future! ;)  Leave a comment to win this USED book, and I will announce the winner on Facebook by the end of the day.  We also have a BIG giveaway coming up soon that includes this book Brand New and signed....so look for that in the future.
*****Edited To Say: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED*****
(The winner has been announced on our Facebook Fan Page.)

August is National Picnic Month so I found it only appropriate to take my Teddy Bear for a picnic.

I borrowed my daughter's teddy bear and book, "The Teddy Bears' Picnic" to set this up in a fun way.  I think everyone should have a picnic basket, too.  I was lucky to have been given this picnic basket for free, but this is definitely an item I would have on my "wish list" or "garage sale list"  I don't know why people ever get rid of these cute woven baskets.

I had lunch packed in the morning so right when we came back from the garage sales, we could go eat. We packed yummy sandwiches, fruit, chips, snacks, and if you live by a Trader Joes, their sparkling Blueberry Juice is a perfect summer drink.  Lisa M. did this awesome tutorial for His and Hers wine glasses that really set the mood.

We walked over to a park and just relaxed in the warm sun while we ate and talked, and just laid there together on our blanket during a perfect summer afternoon.  I brought a few activities to do like a kite and a paddle and ball, and a frisbee all bought from the Dollar Tree, but we were enjoying our relaxing, lazy afternoon so much we didn't even use them.
